Any advice for fic fests first-timers?
I think what’s important is that you remember you’re doing this for fun! You might have fears and doubts about being judged and/or perceived when you post something on the internet but at the very end of the day fanfic is supposed to be fun and something to share with friends, to make friends in ficdom, or even something only for yourself. Writing is personal so you shouldn’t let others influence you (negatively) so much. Write for you, write something that keeps you interested, write something that you want to express, write for fun! Besides the check-ins and the deadline, the process of writing for fests is the same, and I don’t think there’s a way to “mess up”. You shouldn’t pressure yourself to meet a standard because there isn’t one!

How does this fest work?
It’s open to everyone. First, we’ll collect prompt submissions from everyone, including those who don’t plan to write for the fest but have ideas and still want to participate. After prompting is closed, you’ll have the opportunity to claim a prompt you’d like to write. Once the submission deadline is over, all fics and art will be posted anonymously first and a week later authors/artists will be revealed. What pairs are allowed in the fest?
Here is a full list of the pairings allowed. This round only Seventeen’s 96z line interrelationships will be allowed. Polyam relationships are always welcome if they only include Seventeen’s 96 liners. All side pairings and background relationships are welcome as long as the 96 line interrelationship is the focus of the fic, or as vital to the fic as the side pairing.
der’s POV, then absolutely!Does my fic need to be in [96 liner]’s POV?
Not necessarily as long as the main focus of the fic is a 96 line interrelationship. If you think you can write your fic from an outsider’s POV, then absolutely!Does all of 96z need to be in the fic, or can it just be focused on the pairing?
It can only be focused on the pairing!Would it be alright to include non-SVT members as background characters in the fic?
Yes.Are the fics to be written strictly in English?
Yes.Do I need an AO3 account? Do I need to have participated in a fest before/written before?
Yes, you will need an AO3 account to post once the deadline comes, but this could be your first ever fic and/or your first time participating in a fest. Everyone is welcome!

How does prompting work?
We will post a link to a form in which you have to give no information about yourself whatsoever, completely anonymous unless you want to receive a notification in case someone claims and completes your prompt by postings. Once prompting opens, you can create as many prompts as you’d like. All prompts will be fair game for anyone to claim. We will also be keeping the prompts up at the end of the fest in case future writers want to write them. Can I write for a self-prompt?
Yes, as long as your self-prompt follows the same rules/guidelines from regular prompts. We will offer a self-prompt form when claiming comes. If you have an existing WIP that you think is similar to one of the prompts submitted, you may modify your WIP and claim the prompt. But self-prompts need to be new fics, we won’t accept a fic that has been published previously, even if they aren’t complete and you’ve only posted one chapter. Can I work on an existing WIP/in-progress fic?
If you think there's a prompt that matches something you've been working on or if you want to self-prompt, you are welcome to only if you haven’t posted your WIP anywhere. Remember you have to remain anonymous until reveals. If there are prompts that go unclaimed by the end of the fest, are they up for grabs?
We will be keeping the prompts at the end of the fest in case future writers want to write them in a later round!

How do I claim a prompt?
Claiming will happen through a Google Form. A separate form will be made available for self-prompts at the same time! When does claiming start?
FEBRUARY 14 at 00:00 KST (Carat Day), until MARCH 14. We follow Eastern Standard Time (GMT-5) but since we can’t stay awake all night crossing out prompts and sending out e-mails, we are opening it at midnight KST!How will claiming work?
First come, first served! Claimers will have to input their three prompt choices in preference order, #1 being the prompt they'd want to claim the most out of the 3.So even if you’re sure you’re getting the prompt you want, pick another 2!Can I claim more than one prompt?
You can only claim one prompt at a time. If you finish writing your first prompt and want to claim another one (and then another one?) then you are more than welcome to do so.Can more than one person write for the same prompt?
No. An author and an artist can pick the same prompt but two authors and/or two artists can’t claim the same prompt. Can I submit art instead?
Absolutely, all artists are welcome! All prompts can be claimed by a writer and by an artist.I want to sign up, but the claiming deadline has passed.

What are check-ins? How do they work?
We ask for proof of progress to know if writers/artists are working on their prompts during the writing period. We won’t ask for a preview, only a summary of how your WIP is progressing, a current word count, and a projected word count (if you have one!). We know life happens and fandom can't be a priority so don’t hesitate to ask for an extension if you need one, but please do so as early as possible to give us time to accommodate everything. Can my fic be chaptered?
Yes.Can I submit a WIP if I don't finish in time?
Though we encourage you to only post a finished work, if you can't finish in time, that's alright. We know fandom isn't a priority but if you need an extension, please let us know ahead of time so we can accommodate everything. How do I submit my fic?
We will send out guidelines on how to post your submissions to the fest once the posting deadline is nearing.
1. HARD NO's:
> ableist and racist prompts.
> graphic/explicit non-consensual sex (which extends but isn't limited to graphic/explicit NSFW content involving minors).
> graphic/explicit abuse as the sole focus of the fic.
As long as you tag accordingly, sensitive topics are allowed, including genderbending/swapping. If in doubt about whether or not your prompt/fic will be accepted or should include certain tags, please ask us.2. The word minimum required is 1,000 words, but you are very welcome to write more.3. This fest is ANONYMOUS. Please refrain from discussing your prompt in public before reveals.4. We’d like to minimize drop-outs, so we ask you to only claim a prompt if you’re confident you’ll be able to finish writing/drawing it in time. We are aware life happens so if you do need to drop out, please don't ghost us and let us know.5. Please be respectful of your fellow carats and 96z line lovers. We will not tolerate hate, ship wars, or any kind of behavior that doesn't follow the spirit of this fest.
